Procedure Text Chapter 3 Part 1
Hello everyone, my name is Namira Hasnalma Aisyah and Im from 27 Senior High School Class XI Science 1. So, today I want to tell you about procedure text.
Procedure is a text that shows a process in order. Its social function is to describe how something is completely done through a sequence of series. Or
(1)Texts that explain how something
works or how to use instruction / operation manuals e.g. how to use the
video, the computer, the tape recorder, the photocopier, the fax (2) Texts that instruct how to do a particular activity e.g. recipes, rules for games, science experiments, road safety rules.
(3) Texts that deal with human behaviour eg how to live happily, how to succeed.
Generic Structure:
1. Goal : It is containt the purpose of the text.
2. Material or Ingredient : it is containt of the materials that used in
the process.
3. Step : it is containt of the steps to make something in the goal.
The Purpose:
1. To explain/tell (the reader) how to make/operate/do something through a sequence of actions or steps.
2. To explain steps/instruction to make/operate/do something
The Characteristic:
1. Use adverbial of sequence / Using temporal conjunction (e.g: first, second, third, the last)
2. Use command / imperative sentence (e.g : put the noodles on the . . ., cut the onion. . ., wash the tomatoes. . . )
3. Using action verb
4. Using Simple Present Tense
Example:
How to Make Banana Jam
INGREDIENTS
- 3 peeled bananas
- 1 cup of sugar or artificial sugar
- 1/3 a cup of water
STEPS
- First, put all those things out in front of you.
- Next, take the peeled bananas and slice the banana into very thin pieces. Put them aside in a bowl.
- Then, fill the pot with 1 cup of sugar and stir it continuously.
- Next, cook until brown in medium heat. Don’t step away for more than 10 seconds because this will burn if you don’t watch it carefully.
- Once brown, add 1/3 a cup of water and the sliced banana you put aside. Don’t forget to keep stirring on low heat.
- When no banana pieces are noticeable, turn off heat.
- After that, put in a container or covered bowl and put in the fridge until chilled.
- Finally, frozen banana jelly or jam finished.
